Regional Performance & Development Co-ordinator
South West Region
£21,000 to £29,000 per annum, plus company car.
As part of the modernisation of the sport of athletics in readiness for Olympic success, England Athletics has been formed into nine regions.
The South West has an appointed Regional Manager, who will work with a small regional team and be accountable to the sport in that region via its regional council, but report directly to the Chief Executive of England Athletics.
The South West region now requires a second Performance & Development Co-ordinator (PDC) to provide effective support & liaison with local clubs, sporting bodies & education establishments to develop & deliver the strategic athletics programmes & initiatives in an equitable way throughout the region. The PDC will also co-ordinate all key development initiatives and monitor & evaluate their success. This role will have key areas of focus, the main one being in Club Development.
The successful candidate for the post will need to be good negotiator who is capable of working with key partners and stakeholders. The region will have a significant degree of autonomy and, to be successful, the PDC will need to motivate and communicate with key professionals and a much larger team of volunteers. Mobility within the region will be essential, as will a proven record of successful sports development work and/or a background in the sport as a volunteer or paid professional.
Knowledge of athletics (development and performance) will be very helpful and a real enthusiasm for an athlete-centred approach will be essential. The ability to meet deadlines and achieve targets will be an absolute key to success.
